I discovered this article on the Village Voice website. The article, "Searching for Bush's Jesus", is a curious and thought-provoking one. Tell me what you think. Check out the website sometime. The Village Voice is a rag from Greenwich Village, NY. Check it out for the liberal in you. Or, conversely, for the conservative in you find something to react against. I love discussion. One way or the other.

I have linked the Village Voice website in my "Places to Go" column to the right. Also, see Ship of Fools.
No surprises here. I could do the same comparing anyone's life and actions next to the teachings of Jesus.
I cringe at the thought of a "gentle" Jesus. Isn't he the Lion of Judah? Of course he is gentle, but not purely in the human ways I think of. More like Aslan.
This is a reaction from my conservative side (yes, there is a liberal one, too) :)
Thanks for the comment, Ben (if you ever see this comment). In all honesty, I read what is most intriguing to me, most though-provoking. And it is especially curious to hear the thoughts of non-Christians on what they think Christians should be and how they appear to them. It helps keep us sharp and on-task, in a sense.
I don't believe in a so-called "meek and gentle Jesus" either. Although, one would need to define those terms. I know I am being overly semantically hung-up when I say that. Meek doesn't have to mean milktoast, and gentle unoffensive and soft.
Still, the gist of the article is what Jesus Himself said as recorded in the Gospels. And this is the leg that the writer had to stand on. I say "Touché".
